Apart from being a husband, father of four, church leader and youth worker, I also have many years experience in a variety of IT environments, and have partnered with many of my clients for as long as a decade or more. I seek to enable my clients to manage their own web presence as much as possible, and to support churches and non-profits with hand-crafted, customised services.

I have been working in web design, software development and IT management since around 1995, after completing a BSc in Computer Science and Mathematics.
From 1993 to 2004 I worked in network administration and IT management for a major university in Melbourne, managing various services and support for a faculty network of approximately 1500 students and 70 staff, both as an individual leader and part of a team. This gave me a solid grounding in Unix networking, small business server design and Mac administration. During this time I also travelled overseas to the Apple World Wide Developers Conference several times and developed a number of in house software tools.
In 1999 I changed to a part time role to increase my available time for a growing web design and Mac tutoring business, and to get more involved in youth work.

From 2004 to 2008 I was the IT manager for one of the largest design and identity management firms in Australia, with 2 major offices in Australia as well as supporting locations overseas in several countries. This gave me excellent commercial experience in Mac OS X-based SME server and network design, urgent trouble-shooting and the special requirements of a high-demand graphic design enviroment. In that period I moved their IT systems (servers, workstations, printers, networking, phones) "from chaos to control" as well as undertaking 3 complete office relocations with minimal downtime, involved in everything from networking, desk layout, lighting and phones.
In 2009 I felt my mission there was complete and took on an increased role as a youth pastor for two local churches, and simultaneously decided to expand my web design and software development business.
I'm very grateful to my previous employers for the opportunities to develop my design, IT management and software development expertise, and also appreciate their flexibility in allowing me to work part time for so many years. I highly recommend it if you have the opportunity!
Frequently Asked Questions
How long have you been building websites for?
My first commercial site went online in 1995. After many years doing websites in my spare time to support my youth work, in 2009 I quit my 'day' job to provide more time for my youth work and to build my website design and software development business professionally.
I need a site done for free or very cheap, are you interested?
No, I don't believe you will receive the best quality of work that way. However I do provide discounts for Christian-managed non-profit organisations and churches.
Do you have any jobs available?
No, I'm a sole trader and have no employees, and plan to remain that way for the time being. I do sometimes need extra hands on a project. If you are interested in (very) occasional freelance work feel free to send me a link to your portfolio, if I like your work and see a natural fit for a project, I'll be in touch.
